Never Stop Dreaming

"Oh Shit! I'm a dead duck!" That was my reaction when the sergeant wanted to see all those who missed the 16km route march. Well, guess what? All of us have to book in at 1730 on a Sunday to do that march. That's not the main problem. Problem is it is a 5 hour march. So what time are we going to sleep? Also, we are heading for Tekong early Monday. Ultimate concern is sleep. How could they do this to me? No one wants to start a field camp dead tired. That's not the way to boost the morale of soldiers right? Shifting it to after the field camp makes much more sense.

Anyway, field camp sounds exciting. But there is a whole lot of things to consider. Things like what to bring. Space is a luxury we do not have. My field-pack is already going to burst and I only managed to squeeze in 3 pairs of underwears in. No way man! I need at least 10 pairs. One for each day. I need more clothes too. I can't bear the idea of sleeping in dirty clothes as well as insects. I heard the Tekong folks did alot of charging here and there. Haha. Tough they say. I'm used to tough training already. What really matters is the rest time and sleep time. That is the most important period for me. Hopefully it is long, since they can't do anything without the sun in the jungle. I wonder what type of training we will undergo too. Commandos don't do the normal stuff infantry do. Hehe. Maybe we will do some life-threatening activities. Whatever.

My electronic shooting was fun. I got 57/72. Don't know what that means. But it looks normal as compared to the rest. It's really cool holding the rifle and taking aim through the scope. I had to steady myself, focus the little dot on the small target and squeeze the trigger. I kept forgetting to hold my breathing when I fired. I was too excited perhaps. Haha. I like the part when we had to use our lasers. We were supposed to switch on our lasers and shoot at a flashing light in a simulated night setting. Cool! Reminds me of CS. This is live CS! My only problem was steadying myself when in a kneeling position. My rifle kept swaying. I had no choice but to fire as soon as the dot moved to the target. No time to think. Fun! I don't mind doing it again. In fact, we are! We will be doing the real thing on Tekong next week. Looking forward to that.

I've only got 26 hours out in the civilian world this time. And it had to happen when I am about to leave for field camp. I won't be back next weekend. That really hurts. No Valentine's Day with May too. So sorry darling. Hope you don't mind. I'm doing NS here. :=)

See ya people 2 weeks later. Sounds like I'm a new enlistee. Anyway, I will surely have lots of things to say when I come back. Look out for that peeps!
