Art

As I was going home from Tampines Mall this evening, I saw a crowd next to the entrance of the MRT. Having nothing better to do, Jo and I stood there and watch what was happening.

There was this young chinese man who had bottles of spray paint arranged neatly in front of him. Next to them were a few pieces very impressive pieces of 'paintings'. At first glance, they could pass off as real paintings. He was just beginning to start on his new work. 3 pieces of A4-sized papers combined. The start-up was extremely slow and I wanted to leave if not for the curiosity of Jo. He was fiddling with his circular objects, put on his mask and spraying some graffiti on the papers. It looked horrible. Absolutely nothing like the paintings on display. I began to wonder if he could pull it off in front of the large crowd!

Fast forward to 20mins later. After layers of paint after paint and some very artistic usage of his 'props', ta da! It was a Wow! piece of work. All his works centred around planets and stuff. It was really interesting seeing the entire process. After finishing that piece, he was all perspiring and embarrassed by the very large crowd staring at him and his works. Several people gave money in appreciation of his efforts. Too bad the one he did was for someone who ordered it. I bought a smaller piece as I was really impressed. These people needed recognition for their talent.

Beautiful! Don't anyone dare disagree.....
Before I bought it, I talked to him about his art pieces. No offence but he was fluent in english and sounded very confident. An educated man. I asked him what was that at the bottom of the painting. My guess is tree tops. Jo insisted those are mountains or rocks. He said it is up to our imagination and we wouldn't accept what he said because we had already formed an opinion on it. A clever answer.

I am not so artistic. I spent half an hour trying to lay it down with plastic on my bedside table. The plastic, scotch tape and scissors refused to agree with my ideas.

I had a pleasant surprise when I finally sat down after finishing my mini art project. I discovered a set of Altec Lansing speakers on both sides of my monitor! Gosh! I had always wanted to buy them. WOO! Now I can blast my favourite music through top quality speakers.

Valentine's Day is coming... Oooooh!
